For Career/Study Abroad Advisors:

• Co-host a Study, Travel, Work Abroad Fair and alternate  responsibility between the study abroad and career services office  include career panels following event focused on international graduate  and/or career topics.
• Co-host workshops for returned study abroad students on how to integrate their experiences into an effective job search
• Create a handout for credit transfer for non-campus study abroad  programs options; and promote those with fieldwork and internship  options.  See: www.studyabraod.com/exp.html
• Utilize career guides found on Idealist. Org and/or consider  promotion of on-line subscriptions such as Going Global and/or Living  and Working Overseas.
• Identify faculty concerned with globalization and languages
• Create a campus listserv for targeted academic departments and  returned study abroad students for special fellowships; programs and  events.
• Establish close ties with local area trade center and organizations;  Department of Commerce; International Women in Technology and related  networks.

For International Student Advisors:

• Promote and provide J-1 Academic Training and F-1  Optional  Practical Training (OPT) and Curricular Practical Training (CPT)  seminars explaining procedures, requirements and timetable that includes  career resources for internship options and job search assistance.
• Promote practice interview opportunities as part of career services  regular offerings as a special Practice Interview Day in conjunction  with your local area human resources association and career center.

• Consider hosting a BUSINESS ETIQUETTE LUNCHEON utilizing graduate  students and TAs that demonstrate the American Dos and Don’ts for eating  and networking.

Articles – Good topics for articles include anything related to your company – recent changes to operations, the latest company softball game – or the industry you’re in. General business trends (think national and even international) are great article fodder, too.

Mission statements – You can tell a lot about a company by its mission statement. Don’t have one? Now might be a good time to create one and post it here. A good mission statement tells you what drives a company to do what it does.

Company policies – Are there company policies that are particularly important to your business? Perhaps your unlimited paternity/maternity leave policy has endeared you to employees across the company. This is a good place to talk about that.

Executive profiles – A company is only as strong as its executive leadership. This is a good place to show off who’s occupying the corner offices. Write a nice bio about each executive that includes what they do, how long they’ve been at it, and what got them to where they are.
